is co-owned by a mother/daughter (De and Dawn) duo of mixed media artists who have combined their interests, talents, mutual respect, and love for each other to create a special place for other creative spirits to visit, shop, communicate, and enjoy their contributions to the world of art! De's mom (Dawn's grandmother) is the original D'Este and although she had always been very artistic, she did not really begin to paint until she had a major debilitating stroke (when Dawn was only 12 years old). The paintings she left to us are our cherished memories from the talent of this very special woman, who would be so proud and happy that her daughter and granddaughter are keeping the feminine artistic spirit alive through their creative efforts. We dedicate this site to her and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful role model she was for us: kind, giving, wise, talented, and above all loving.
De has recently retired from a 20+ year career as an Instructional Systems Designer, as well as having taught myth and film from a psychological perspective to masters-level students at a Midwestern Liberal Arts university. From the time her children were small, she taught arts & crafts to both children and adults and has used art as a therapeutic medium when she did counseling. Her dream, finally to be realized, has long been to "follow her bliss" by teaching others to use art as a silver thread to weave their own tapestry, which she will be doing in art therapy workshops with Dawn. YEAH!!! Dawn is a mixed-media artist and family law attorney with a passion for color and the written word. Dawn passes on her enthusiasm and talents teaching mixed media classes to both artists and counselors who utilize the techniques they learn in class to assist those suffering from addiction, depression, abuse and grief. Dawn has also been a featured artist on HGTV's That's Clever. Dawn considers herself a storyteller who uses visual imagery and the written word to create paintings, collages, altered (art) books and jewelry that tell the stories of her life as a woman, daughter, wife, and human on the planet earth. She believes that we all have stories to tell. Dawn and De's work has been sold both nationally and internationally with collectors in Portugal, England, Canada, Spain and the United States, and both had their works on display at a juried show for the Literacy Council of S. Carolina during the month of September 2005. Dawn's work is featured on www.art-e-zine.co.uk. and in the July/August issue of Somerset Studio . You can find her"Le Moulin Rouge" Theater on page 82! Diva De's "Les Femmes de Paris" fabric wallhanging was recently chosen to be featured in one of Stampington's SPECIAL publications - 'Gallery' - which hit newstands December 1st. You can see this published artwork on page 155 of the Winter Issue of the Gallery Magazine. |
